What I do, is allow myself to rare candy up any pokemon to the level of the previous gym leaders highest level pokemon, and so long as EVERY trainer has been cleared up to that point, you may rare candy a pokemon up to the level of gym leader's ace that you're about to fight (a pokemon may NOT exceed a gym leaders ace, if it does, it may not participate in the battle). Not only is grinding just a waste of time and presents no real challenge, it also gives you an over inflated amount of money to spend (too easy to just stack shit tons of potions, balls, etc.).
Hear me out on the purpose of this: To be on par with the gym leaders levels while you're losing a good amount of pokemon since this hack is plain HARD to nuzlocke, you'd have to do an absurd amount of grinding.
